Longing for summer...

My House

My New Landscape Inspiration

Today is a gray Michigan winter day so I am dreaming about summer. I took these inspiration photos on our trip to Niagara Falls, Canada. It was the most beautiful landscaping I've ever seen. I am using these photos as inspiration for plantings this year. As you can see, my landscape is in desperate need of color.

I can hardly wait to get started. If anyone has any experience with any of these varieties, please share!

  1. Your home is lovely! I love the rocking chairs. Everything looks so inviting!

What beautiful inspiration photos! I love the colors! The tall ones appear to be canna. It comes in a variety of heights and colors. You can easily pick them up at HD or Lowes. The shorter red ones look like caladium. Also available seasonally.

Good luck with your landscape! I'll be anxious to see your changes! Lisa

  3. Hi! Your house is beautiful, inside and out... I saw your bedroom featured on HGTV's Rate My Space. I really like the sleigh bed, do you mind sharing where you found it.. I wasn't able to find that info in the comments on the site. Thanks!!

  4. Dixie, Thank you for visiting my blog and for the compliments. I still can't believe this myself but, I bought the Sleigh bed at Big Lots (a discount store in Michigan). If you prefer a higher quality, there is a similar bed at Potterybarn. Ours is almost 10 years old and it has held up wonderously! They still sell it and it is called the "Louis" collection. Thanks again, Sarah

  5. Thanks Sarah! That is amazing, what a find! Unfortunately it looks like its doesn't come in a King. I love your ideas, all of the color combos in your house are fantastic! I am planning on going with a brown/cream/blue theme in the master but first need to find a bedroom set. I am starting to gather ideas for our guest suite as well, where we already have a set to work with!
Good luck with your landscaping! Thanks again!

  6. Your home is beautiful, especially your porch, looks like the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of sweet tea! I love the inspirational landscaping you have chosen, unfortunately I don't have any info on it. I'm longing for summer too...seems like it just keeps snowing here in Ohio, so anxious to see my tulips peeking up out of the ground! Your landscaping around your home is beautiful. I am trying to figure out what is in the urns on your porch...they look perfect there...thanks for sharing.
