Holiday Home Series: Creating a Celestial Nightlight

Welcome back to The Holiday Home Series at The Yellow Cape Cod.  The days in Michigan are getting shorter.  This means, more time spent at home in the dark than in the day light.

Today's project is an easy way to take full advantage of the darkness by creating a super-romantic, celestial nightlight.

I love this project because it is so easy and the result is so beautiful.  Here what you need to get started:

~Command Hooks
~Packing tape
~One string of white Christmas lights with a white cord
~Two sheer curtain panels (like these $5 panels from Walmart)

The Tutorial:
Following the directions on the packaging, stick the command hooks to the top of the window.  Loosely drape the lights from the hooks.

Tape the bottom of the lights to the window to keep them from touching the sheer drapes

Add the sheer panels the your existing curtain rod.

 (Existing curtain rod)

(Existing rod with the sheer placed in between the drapes)

Wait for it to get dark...

Kids love this project.
I have to admit, I love it too.  Isn't it funny how the simplest decorations are usually the prettiest?
