Recently, I was given the opportunity to review a new toy, the 3M™ Mobile Projector. My whole family was excited to try this product. It's a small handheld projector that plugs into your iPhone, iPad or PC (PC connection requires an additional cable sold separately). It allows you to watch movies, photo slideshows, and YouTube videos anywhere.
When it arrived, the kids and I all had our own ideas on how to use it. In fairness, we decided try it together as a family. We grabbed some snacks and gathered in the boys' room to watch a photo slideshow of our recent Disney vacation.
It was a really fun way to view our vacation photos on the "big screen."
The kids were so excited when they realized now they can watch movies anywhere, even outside.
The boys are especially excited to use it at our first neighborhood summer bonfire. Instead of scary stories around the campfire, they're thinking scary movies in their tree fort.
My daughter is looking forward to the next power outage. She'll be the hero of the neighborhood when she invites the kids over for a movie in the dark.
My hubby likes the idea of using the cable adapter to connect it to the laptop.
They all have big ideas on how they are going to use this projector this summer.
However, so do I.
Here is what I am most excited about ...
As a professional Home Stylist, I often customize spaces with hand-painted murals and custom silhouettes. Up until now every time I wanted to do a project like this, I had to borrow a large overhead projector from our church.
Old school overhead projectors get very hot. They are big, heavy, awkward and hard to position in a small space. I never bought one of my own because I didn't have a place to store it.
I was so excited when I realized I'd never have deal with an old school projector ever again.
Now, I can carry my 3M projector in my purse.
Using my new 3M projector I can project a digital image from my laptop onto the wall to create custom murals quickly and easily. My job and my own home decorating projects just got so much easier.
I don't know who is more excited about this little gadget, me or the kids.

My favorite movie nights at our house is getting all three babes in bed early. Opening a nice wine and cuddeling on the couch with my hubby. It's a rare occasion but our idea of date night.
ReplyDeleteSnuckums1986 (at) yahoo.com
Our Family Movie Night is usually a stack of DVD's that we have seen a hundred times, popping popcorn, a beverage of choice, (lemonade, water, etc)....all grabbing his own blanket, finding the best spot in the living room, getting comfortable with our own bowls of popcorn and we are ready for a movie!
ReplyDeletesandraallen260@centurytel.net
Honestly, we head downstairs, select a chair or bean bag and hit play. The children like to go in the basement, because we can make it really dark!
ReplyDeleteWe do family movie night once a week. The kids pile in bed with us and we all agree on a "on demand" movie and veg out, together, it's the best! xoxo, Melaine at my sweet savannah!
ReplyDeleteThis looks super fun. Our family loves movie night!!
ReplyDeletePopcorn with M&M's on the couch
ReplyDeleteOur movie nights consist of the kiddos huddling around my iMac in the living room. This would be an upgrade! Very cool projector. Love how small it is!
ReplyDeleteSaturday nights are for cuddling up on the couch with a good family movie.
ReplyDeleteOur family and grandchildren would have tons of fun with this around the outdoor fireplace or pool enjoying old family movies or a great old classic movie. I can also see numerous uses for this for our church youth group or Sunday School classes. I would love to win!
ReplyDeleteTricia....I have no blog but my email is patriciaknop@wildblue.net
Our family usually has a spirited debate about which movie to watch. We then pop several bowls of popcorn, each with a different of flavor popcorn salt. We then gather on the sectional with our blankets, popcorn and something to drink. No other electronics or texting is allowed. Since there are 5 of us, we get very cozy watching the movie. We lower the lights, and then it's showtime. The 3M projector would be a great device to use to stream movies from my iPad. It would be a fun addition to an already much loved family tradition.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how timely this is. We've been researching projectors for backyard movies the last couple weeks. Hoping to do a backyard movie for my son's bday. Question: how big of an image does it project?
ReplyDeleteA snuggly blanket and popcorn! Great giveaway....thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe get into pajamas and share a bowl of popcorn on the couch.

What a great product! I have been looking on craigslist for a movie projector so that we can have outdoor movie nights this summer. The 3M projector would be perfect! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe like to build movie fortresses ... we tent the living room with whatever blankets are nearby, toss in the sleeping bags and "special things" and then push play. Our daughters, who are 4 and 6, think of this as camping more than movie night. (I like this kind of bug-free camping!) Sometimes we'll even eat our dinner in the tent. Messy, but worth every bit of cleanup once they're off to bed.
ReplyDeleteWe watch one of our favorite movies, eat popcorn and chips with salsa

ReplyDeleteWe all pile into the sectional sofa and cuddle up for movies, twizzlers, and popcorn.
ReplyDeleteMovie, popcorn, the family and friends--it doesn't get any better!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way is to splurge and go to the "real" movies as my oldest daughter calls it, which is the normal theater. But with our budget, that happens about once every three or four years. Instead, what we usually do works just as well (and is in some ways better as we can wear our PJs) is to pop popcorn and all 5 of us snuggle on the couch and watch a Redbox movie or a movie we've checked out from the library.
ReplyDeleteI think we're pretty classic. Tons of popcorn and smushed together on the couch. I love those nights.
ReplyDeleteAll my loves! Hubby, Son, Pizza and Cookies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool gadget! Our kids have a movie night every Friday. This would come in handy!

With 7 boys, my favorite way to do a movie is to eat first and then put the movie on :) If I'm feeling really 'nice' we eat popcorn outside during 'intermission'. Fortunately we live in FL where the crumbs can fall outside year-round!
ReplyDeleteI have two boys ages 5 and 8 and our movie night is called a "PPP Party"
ReplyDeleteShort for Pajama Popcorn and Pizza Party. They usually choose a family movie instead of a cartoon to watch with me and my husband. We've watched Opposite Day a thousand times by now!
Movie night is a Friday night ironing. If I had one of these I could watch it in the laundry room and not have to move everything!

We do movie night with Netflix and ice cream!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool gadget! For our family movie nights all 5 of us find a spot on our sectional and there is always popcorn :)
ReplyDeleteMy littlest one is still too young to sit through a movie, so usually "movie night" means watching him bounce off the walls while my daughter (4 years) watches one of her favorites (we just watched "Annie" - the little one like the songs). Occasionally, we're lucky enough to watch a grown-up movie after the kids' bedtimes on a weekend (it's really hard to find a couple of hours spare when we're not too tired to sit through a movie)!
ReplyDeletewould love to use this outside on summer nights
ReplyDeleteLove movie nights. But, they are few and far between as my kids are now 19 and 17...but we do manage to have one occasionally. This consists of popcorn, coke and lots of pillows and blankets. We have a huge sectional, so it fits all of us comfortably. Have fun with yours while they are young :) I miss those days!
ReplyDeleteTona in Alabama
Movie night is always Friday night here. We call it "Fun Rainwater Friday Nights." Now we are not allowed to do ANYTHING other than order pizza and get a movie on Friday evenings or my kids think pigs must be flying around outside. We do, however, change up the Pizza delivery rotation, and occasionally dine on a homemade variety. We love Friday night!

So much fun!!!! Family movie night would be great with a gadget like this in my house
ReplyDeletedmnester17atyahoodotcom
We push back all of the furniture and load the living room floor with blankets and pillows. Then we pop a few bags of popcorn and add plain m&ms to create our special family snack that features a sweet and salty surprise in every bite ;) We then turn off all of the lights and close all of the blinds and curtains for our at home family theater experience!
ReplyDeletePizza, popcorn and soda pop with the kiddo's! A big stack of movies...Cuddle up all together in the floor...Love these nights!
ReplyDeletePopcorn, Movie, Blanket, and family snuggles...perfect. What a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love that you can watch movies and use it for work, the best of both worlds!
ReplyDeleteWe order pizza and serve it off the coffee table in the living room. It is a huge treat to eat dinner in the living room while watching tv. The kids love it.
ReplyDeleteI would love this and my family would enjoy backyard movie nights!!
ReplyDeleteMy kids love to have slumber parties in the family room with mom and dad. We blow up the air mattress, gather blankets and pillows and stay up all night watching movies and eating treats. It would be great to do this outside in the summer...
ReplyDeleteWe sit on the couch with homemade popcorn, chocolate milk and a fire going when it is cold. Usually we only make it through the first hour before the little one falls asleep.
ReplyDeleteWe love having popcorn while we watch movies and warm snuggly blankets are a must too!
ReplyDelete-Shelley
I LOVE family movie nights! We eat an early dinner (typically our fave take out) then everyone gets in their jammies and we cuddle on the couch with popcorn that has a sprinkling of M&M's in them. Soda for the adults and juice mixed with San Pelligrino for the kids - SO.MUCH.FUN!

ReplyDeleteWow that's a great little gadget. I've never heard of it before...so thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe have family movie nights usually every Friday IF the kids get their chores done by Thursday night. We "Make" a movie theater in our playroom. We pull all the drapes and make it really dark. The kiddos get their sleeping bags and pillows. We pop some popcorn and snuggle up.
Friday night is family movie night... the husband and I mix up an adult beverage, dump it in a thermos, and head to our complex's free theater. But we'd love to screen our own movie using this projector! :)
ReplyDeleteFriday Night Movie Night is also Friday Night Pizza Night. We make homemade pizza, complete with dough from scratch. After dinner and cleanup (which is a must with 7 children), everyone gets pj's on and gets ready for the movie.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of this 3M screen projector!

What a fantastic new gadget, no wonder everyone in your family is fighting over it. We love to do movie night in our bedroom with the kids. All four of us, plus the two dogs, all stretched out on the bed with popcorn and drinks. About a year ago we were given a king sized bed from my aunt when she moved and it no longer fit in her new home, so it is now much more comfier on this bed. This October the kids and I will be driving from AZ back to MI (Flushing to be exact) and this would be a lot of fun for our drive. Could I keep it a surprise until then??????????? ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have a "fat kid night" where my hubby and I rent a movie and throw on sweatpants and cuddle on our comfy couch. :)

Now this looks like a cool gadget the whole family loves! I like your use of it:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! It would be perfect for both family and neighborhood movie nights, but I would also use it for my job at Camp Horizon (a camp and year-round program for foster children). Love this gagdet!
ReplyDeleteWe have a big exterior wall that backs up to our deck.....it would be SO FUN to sit by the fire pit and watch a movie!
ReplyDeleteWe love to watch movies in our backyard!
ReplyDeleteFavorite movie knight is curling up in the lazy-boys and enjoying the surround sound and big tv.
ReplyDeleteWe order pizza, vote on a movie (Mom and Dad have veto power, of course), and all hang out and eat together in the living room (watching on our old-school TV). We're shopping for a new sofa that will be big enough to seat all four of us, and then if our TV ever quits working, we'll be in the market for a new flatscreen. :)
ReplyDeleteMovie night occurs at least once a week at my house, but I have been dying to host a 'drive-in' movie night in our backyard. There is only one problem...we have no way to project the movie. Kind of a key component! this would be perfect and the size would make it so easy to store when the night is over. I need this 3M projector! :)
ReplyDeleteWe used to call movie night "cuddle night" when the boys were small. I miss those special night now that they are grown. However, as a teacher I would love this to use in the classroom with our IPADS. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOur family movie nights are most enjoyable when we're in the woods in my parents' RV. We don't have much electricity and it's often cold, but watching movies on a cold evening makes great memories.
ReplyDeleteBoth my kids pop themselves on the couch in the family room, with their own bucket of popcorn, and a soda, to watch either their favorite show's new episode, or a movie they have never seen....it's the only time that they actually get along, which makes it my favorite time as well :) Thanks for the chance.

ReplyDeleteReally enjoy your blog. Thanks for the great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to use it for painting. So smart! I like to surround everyone with blankets and pillows, pass around the popcorn, and settle in for a funny film.

We LOVE family Movie Night! It's a tradition my husband started a few years ago in order to gather the family at one set time each week, "Friday Family Movie Night" is what he called it. He died in Afghanistan about 18 months ago and our movie nights stopped for a while. Recently, my little kids asked if we could start doing movie night again, so we do as we did before: gather pillows, blankets, and a special snack and watch a Netflix or Redbox movie.
ReplyDeleteDanielle B. ,
DeleteWords are failing me right now. I'm so sorry for your loss. "Friday Family Movie Night" is a beautiful way for you and the kids to honor and remember him.
Good luck in the Giveaway :)
Best regards, Sarah
Friday isn't Friday without pizza and movie night in the family room. Taking movie night outside with this gadget would defenitly take it to the next level :)
ReplyDeleteFamily movie night means cuddling up with blankets in the family room and everyone turning off their cell phones. Dim the lights and stay nice and warm. Add in hot chocolate and homemade popcorn....we're all set!
ReplyDeleteOhhh... I need one of these to show photos to clients in their own homes! lana at ceasefirestudios dot net
ReplyDeleteWow! What a good idea! I need one of those projectors. That's going on the Christmas list.
ReplyDeleteWe don't watch movies/tv but we do go to my parents and look at old slides with their old school slide projector. The kids love it!
