Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery~The Prettiest Desk Ever

For your chance to win a $100 gift card to Staples please tell me how you are preparing your home for the holidays at the end of this post.

This product review opportunity could not have come at a better time. Last week I started to prepare my home for the holidays. We don't have a designated guest room. This means my daughters room doubles as our guest space. This can be tricky because I want the space to look nice for holiday guests but let's be honest, she's a teenager. She has a lot of stuff. Her desk is hardworking and can quickly become a messy "catch all".

Here we are in front of her desk the day we revealed her newly decorated room.  You can see her nice, clean, pretty desk top in the background...

That clean desk was short lived.
Recently, I was asked to participate in a review of a new line of home office products: Martha Stewart Home Office™ with Avery™.
My holiday home-spiffing dreams came true when the box showed up at my door. It was almost as if they knew my daughters desk needed serious help.

The products inside the box were the most beautiful Shagreen material in a soft turquoise color.
I started the desk makeover with the Stack+Fit™ system. Each piece of this system is customizable. It allowed me to stack the items in the perfect configuration. We are using it for corralling pens, pencils, paper clips, stapler and other office supplies. Since we are getting ready for Christmas, I went ahead and filled it up with gift wrapping supplies (which I'll get to in a minute).

The system includes Vertical File Folders in fun, coordinating patterns. They are perfect for organizing everyday paperwork, and they fit perfectly in the Standing Magazine File.
We used the erasable, removable, adorable Chalkboard Labels to help her organize her important papers. These can also be used to personalize household storage containers.

Here are some of the other gorgeous pieces in this collection ...
An Accordion File for sorting and filing, coordinating binders and file folder labels, a wall pocket that includes matching push pins and removable adhesive to hang pockets either directly on the wall or on a cork board.

Each piece coordinates beautifully.
When my daughter came home to this beautiful desk space, you would have thought it was Christmas morning. This system is simple enough for her to maintain.

I'm equally as excited about her new "office space".
Isn't it gorgeous?!

Also included in my package from Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery was a fabulous collection of Christmas gift wrapping and Holiday Shipping supplies.

These supplies are durable enough to mail and pretty enough to leave out on her desk, just waiting to be used. The festive shipping paper, tape, padded envelopes and printable mailing labels do not require any bland shipping wrap. They are available for purchase in-store at Staples.

Not only was I able to organize her cluttered desk with this collection of products but her desk became a beautiful feature in the room. Pretty enough for the holidays and simple enough to keep organized long after the guests are gone.

This collection is available exclusively at Staples. You can check it out the details at the Avery website and you can buy the products at Staples.
Like Avery on Facebook to follow news about the Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery collection and their other great products.

Now, it wouldn't be very nice of me to brag about our beautiful new desk without giving you a chance to have one. So, for a chance to win a $100 gift card to Staples, tell me, how you are preparing your home for the holidays?

  1. Holidays? There are holidays coming up?! It is Choir Season, we haven't had a moment to spare. Good thing we aren't hosting any of the family gatherings this year...I am hoping to pull out the decorating boxes over the Thanksgiving weekend, after a very thorough cleaning, of coarse :)

    ReplyDelete
  2. I haven't really prepared for Christmas yet, because I'm still in fall mode! We JUST got down to the 60s after being in the mid 80s for the whole fall season!!!

  3. I love the Martha Stewart line at Staples. I've been admiring it from afar for awhile now and would love to win so I can finally get some pieces!

  4. Hmmm... preparing for the holidays??? Well, I'm still trying to resist the urge to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving, but with all the lovely inspiration floating around, I think I'm going to at least have to make a few Christmas crafts! First on the list will be a wreath, I'm sure ;)

  7. Even though we won't get any guests at our house this holiday season, I've just done my deep cleaning routine and followed up with holiday decorations in each room. My husband things I'm silly for putting it all up, but I love to be surrounded by pretty holiday things :) It is really hard to be grumpy when everything is tinsel and garlands!

  8. I prepare for the holidays with minimal decorating, and lots of outdoor lights! No much preparedness in my house :)

  9. We are finishing any outdoor sprucing that needs to be done before the real cold weather arrives and I am beginning to clean up and de-clutter on the inside.I have a group of women coming to visit from England the first week of December, so I will need to get my decorating done over the Thanksgiving break to make it look all pretty when they arrive.Silver is going to be my favorite color this year with decorations!

  14. Right now I'm trying to clean and organize the house to get ready to put things up. I've just started ordering things to make an advent calendar and for crafts for the kids to do. Hopefully I'll have time to pull it all together.

  15. We are prepairing for the holidays by redecortating our kids room using the help of Sarah's website. Our son's room will be the nautical blue like Sarah's boys and our daughters will be in green white and black similar to her daughters. Sarah has given me the inspiration to get this done and with her help I am looking for a stress free Holidays.

  18. we're having a MUCH smaller Christmas this year, so we're going vintage and pulling out the items with MEMORIES, and giving the house a cozy look this year!

  19. To prepare for the holidays lately I have been trying to scope out some unique ideas to spruce up some things without going full Christmas yet. I have a self made burlap table runner to the table with large candle holders to hold old timey bells as a filler. Next I have been adding some glittery twigs balls to laterns around the house with a string of lights throughout it. Finally, I have been using small white/gold/silver christmas type pine trees (fake) to go inside terrariums to spice it up a little. Loving all the ideas I am finding on here as well! thanks~ and enjoy your holidays!

  24. We are preparing for the holidays with lots of cleaning before the decorations go up. We are also working very hard to finish paying off our debt before Christmas so we can truly celebrate and give generously to our friends and family that have helped us on this journey! Love the Martha Stewart line and you did an excellent job with your daughter's room! Thanks for the opportunity. elleb@inbox.com

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've started to clean and rearrange things to make room for the Christmas tree - this is the first year we've had Christmas in this house, so that's exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  28. We're waiting until after thanksgiving to decorate, but I did buy a mini-tree for our upstairs catch-all room today. We don't let the kids or pets in there and use it for lots of stuff (office/guest room/movie room). I'm going to finally use the gorgeous glass ornaments we received many years ago as a gift! We've always been too nervous because of little ones or furry kids, but I feel guilty not using them... I think this is going to be a great compromise: use them, decorate the room for guests, and keep bitty paws off of them.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have my trusty notebook and fine tip pen--with my lists from the last few years in it. Keeps me organized and I save money by not buying what I already have and may have forgotten about buying last year...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am just trying to get clean and organized now-hubby is off the week of Thanksgiving, so we'll decorate then!

    ReplyDelete
  31. We'll be decorating soon after Thanksgiving. Until then, I'm decluttering like crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Right now I'm spending lots of time trying to figure out what I want to even use for decorating so that I can shop for it! It's fun to start over with a new space!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Doing all I can to hold off decorating until next week. I love to get out the decorations but first that requires a very thorough cleaning. It is the one time of year everyone seems willing to pitch in and help because it means lights and the Christmas tree go up when we are done cleaning.

  37. color coding!! For each room I have a relative color scheme that I decorate with. Each room's color has a similar shade but it helps stream line everything, from decorating to organizing and it looks classic and each year I change some of the shades so, each year its updated, but still has bits of tradition. The test part is that it takes the task out of decorating for holidays, it makes it fun and simple!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I tweeted about the give-away too! Love how you did the black, red & aqua.

  48. Switching out 'Thanksgiving' candles, for 'Christmas' candles, sifting through thrift stores looking for cheap decor that I can 'up-cycle' into modern decorations. Used, lighted tree was only $25 and is already up!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Deep clean, clean out the refrigerator, and rearrange the furniture !! I love getting all my decorations out. It's like seeing old friends. I know I tell my girls the same stories every year about who and where each thing came from, but they still love to help me decorate the house.

    ReplyDelete
  50. We just redecorated our living room, so I'm itching to get Christmas decorations out and in their new homes. But not until after Thanksgiving! We've got some cleaning up to do outside, and I'm on the hunt for outdoor lights for my two evergreens we planted this spring. Other than that it's all pinterest searches and planning for now!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  55. I cannot wait for Christmas! My mantle is currently in fall mode, but as soon as Thanksgiving is over I plan on putting up the tree and decorating the mantle! This is our first year with an actual fire place to hang stockings over!! Did I say I was excited??

    ReplyDelete
  57. We're excited to be back in the United States and we get to celebrate Christmas with family this year! We're redoing colors, so collecting new ornaments and making new stockings are on the to do list. We've also purchased some cute plates and tins from the Michael's dollar bins to put our homemade peppermint bark on/in for gifts.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Those colors are so perfect for your daughter's room! I love, love, love organization and oh how my desk could use a little help in that regard. I am still figuring out my Thanksgiving decor, but I'm looking forward to Christmas decorating this year. I've decided I don't need to use everything we have every single year. This year I'm going with a lot of fresh greens, pinecones, white and sparkly!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I love the colors of this line! My entire Christmas collection is based on red and blue. I haven' started decorating yet but Ihave started my Christmas crafts. There are never enough days in December to finish before Christmas!!

  60. I am working on clearing out some of the children't toys to donate to Goodwill, so we can make room for the new toys they will be receiving.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Space planning, trying to shop around for garland I can add to, bribing my hubby to get the Christmas tree down before Thanksgivng and I bought a gingerbread man cut out to honor my Mother in law who passed away this year. (She made houses and gingerbread men every year.)

    ReplyDelete
  62. My mother in law is moving in this weekend, already have 3 children and a baby on the way in 9 weeks!! I need ALL of the help I can get organizing this house so Staples would be super helpful! :)

  63. I honestly cannot believe that the holidays are here. I've kept putting it off, mainly because I was in denial of summer being over, but the first thing I normally do is always decorate the home appropriately. It's the most fun and easiest way to snaz up our home and I can't wait to start putting some Christmas decor up!
And I am in love with this collection!

  69. I'm preparing for the holidays by getting out the paint and making over some rooms before I host the family on the 23rd! Wish me luck! (P.S. That gift card would come in handy...;))

    ReplyDelete
  70. I prepare for Christmas after Thanksgiving. My husband is hitting up the stores on Black Friday for some outdoor lights for our new home. Then we'll start putting up the tree and rearranging furniture to make it fit in our living room.

    ReplyDelete
  71. My Christmas lights are out (but not turned on yet) because it gets too cold here in Chicago to hang them in December. We'll put the decorations out after Thanksgiving. Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Some rooms are getting a fresh coat of paint before the holidays.

    ReplyDelete
  73. We do so much decorating for the holidays that this year we started to do some prior to Thanksgiving! We put up and decorate 7 trees in our little house, all have a theme. For instance, we have a tree that hangs on the wall in my dining room and that is our wine tree-all the ornaments are wine related.
We have two trees up already and are working on the third, though none of these are on the main level of the house so few people see them yet.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  81. Cleaning! I can't imagine bringing more things into our home till I purge and get rid of some. Then, I'm starting by breaking my home up into zones and attacking it that way.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Not sure why we can't celebrate Thanksgiving with Halloween. I need more time to decorate for Christmas. I have started getting ready by deep cleaning. I try to wait till the farmer across from me has most of his crops in and has planted the field directly across the street. He did that Monday. Yeah!!! We get so much dust when they work the fields( new windows have helped).

    ReplyDelete
  87. I try to give all holidays their "due", so I will be waiting until December arrives. At that time, the stored tubs of Christmas decorations will explode and my husband will go nuts with decorating. Currently, all decorations belong to my husband from his life before me; I have one - the Christmas Pig. Years ago my sister was in the 2nd grade and everyone was given an oval piece of styrofoam. While others created traditional styled ornaments, my sister created a pig complete with a red scarf. The children laughed, but our family chose to honor that pig and now, all four sisters own a Christmas Pig that we proudly display each year. It was more than a decoration; it was a family supporting one of its own!

  88. I've started collecting pieces from the Martha Stewart collection, but still have a ways to go towards being organized. I'm waiting until Thanksgiving day (post dinner) to break out the Xmas decorations. I have started decluttering to make room for the tree and presents. I love this time of the year.

  95. Right now I am still enjoying the Fall decor for another week. Just had a great evening here at my home with the Bunco gals and was glad to still have my home and the decor tonight being in the festive Fall colors. Next weekend I look forward to changing it out to Christmas magic. Looking forward to a more neutral Christmas color decor this year.

  96. I would love to win this! One more week till Christmas decorating. I simply love being able to work with my husband and son to transform our home at the holidays. Many of our decorations I inherited. They were purchased by family members and have stories behind them. Plus my parents bought us one new ornament each year and when we moved on to have our own families we had a tree full to take with us! I am carrying on the tradition with my son. Am still looking for that perfect ornament to get him for this year. I always know when I've found the perfect one. After the holiday's its on to my redo of my office (my Graduate School graduation gift to myself!)

  102. OMG! I've just got started. This is our 1st year in a house! We've lived in apartments for almost 5 years! We just moved into this house in April. I've been in and out of hobby lobby... just got my husband to get all of our Christmas stuff down from the attic last night... and I've started on my mantle. I'm exctied to actually have a fireplace- so I'm trying extra special to make it look nice. For my living room- the traditional red, gold, greens... for our bedroom we are doing the purple, blues and working toward the wintery feeling... And for our little man's room- just a little tree of the fun ornaments that we've collected throughout his 2 years of life. Now- I just have to plan my work's Christmas Party... get my house all decorated- and wait to go eat at my family's houses!! :) hehe!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'm always trying to purge and organize. This is a year round goal of mine, but it is more pressing during the holidays because we have family over and we need to have our house looking good.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Right now, I'm just trying to get gift shopping done for our girls. I am hoping to decorate for Christmas next week!

  113. Our tradition is to put all Christmas decorations up and outside the day after Thanksgiving, but for some reason it is taking all my restraint to do it right now !!!! Before Thanksgiving. My tree is 9 foot, I use all pink, I am recovering from breast cancer, double mascectomy, chemo, radiation, two reconstructions so I love pink ! Everything as far as decorations are PINK ! Even though I had alot of pink even before, now it just has extra meaning. 153. This is the year I realized all I have to do is create an environment that I love, that says holidays to me, and everyone who comes in will love it! It starts with candles on the mantle, lots of twinkle lights, candles/wax tarts that smell like Christmas....

  154. Love that desk set. Your daughter's room and Christmas tree are very beautiful! We always decorate our tree the Saturday after Christmas, so everyone is busy cleaning up after that and trying to get the rest of the decorations up. I would really like to try some crafts as gifts this year since money is tight and I have been ill for quite some time.

    Have a blessed Christmas Season!

We have the tree up and we also have alot of indoor stuff like wreaths, candle holders, gift box shaped candy dishes, musical snow globe, floral pieces, and a set of snowmen that stand up about 3 1/2 foot tall. We also have a couple lawn decorations like an angel, merry christmas sign, and santa with the sled and reindeer, and a set of boxed gifts which are pretty big and they all light up. Would love to win this set. It is so cute.

  171. To prepare our home, we decluttered some areas downstairs so that I can put up more Christmas decorations there. Also, we rearranged some things in our guest room so that I can set up a table in there and use that as a wrapping station. We are storing all the Christmas presents in an armoire in that guest room until I get them wrapped. It is working out perfectly!
