Sophisticated Family-Friendly Den

Please click here for information on my affordable online design service.  I am now accepting new projects!

Today's featured online design plan was one of my favorite projects.  This family was looking to redesign their den, taking it from playroom to family hangout.  The kids, 8 and 5 have out grown their toys and are now in need of a family-friendly den/homework area.

The room is adjacent to the foyer, the main entrance of the elegant traditional style home.  Therefore, it had to make a great first impression.  It also had to appeal to the kiddos, inspiring them to spend time in their new space studying.

This plan combines sophisticated furnishings and fabrics with bold patterns and whimsical accessories to create a space that the whole family will enjoy.

Thank you, Kerry for inviting me into your home.

  1. I have a question. I love so many things and styles that I find it hard to stick too closely to any one thing. Is there a "rule" or way to display and design with such eclectic tastes. for example I love rustic, cottage, farmhouse, colonial a tad bit shabby chic and a touch of modern. I also collect and love to live with vintage anything. How do I incorporate all my tastes and things in a way which looks good?

  2. Maybe it is just me, but I wish these design posts would show the furniture arrangement as well as the color choices.

  3. I agree with the previous poster. I love your blog and have become a bit of a stalker. I would love to see some of these plans with the furniture arrangement included. Furniture arrangements and proportions are always so hard for me.
