Easy Custom Gift Wrap Solution

This year, the non-traditional color scheme in my master bedroom Christmas tree challenged me to think outside the box when it came to gift wrap.  My go-to store for Christmas gift wrap had their usual fantastic selection of Christmas papers, however there was nothing in my brown/blue/gold color scheme.

I started stressing about where I could find unique Christmas gift wrap that would match my decor when the solution was right there in front of me.

Instead of shopping the Christmas section, I hit the regular, everyday gift wrap aisle.  To create  custom gift wrap in my color scheme, I choose a combination of funky prints, metallics and solid brown and off white paper.

After I had my paper selections, I headed to the sewing section where I chose everyday grosgrain and satin ribbon in fun prints and solids.  To give the everyday gift wrap and non-traditional color scheme a Christmas-y look, I topped the gifts with sparkly dollar store Christmas ornaments.

I wish I could share the fun and funky Christmas wrap under our family tree in the living room.  We have to wait until the Christmas 2013 BHG Christmas Ideas article.  I used everyday papers under this tree as well, it is definitely a custom mix.

Since I like to mix up our holiday decor every year,  I'm usually left with a crazy stock pile of leftover Christmas gift wrap.  This year, since I went with everyday paper as opposed to Christmas paper, I can use it throughout the year.

This is a perfect solution if your a cheapscate like me and hate to waste.

I hope you are enjoying your holiday preparations, stop by this post and tell me what you've been up to for a chance to win a $50 Starbucks gift card.

  1. Where did you get the cheetah gift wrap? My daughter's birthday is coming up and she would love it!

  2. Could you please do a tutorial on how you tied the bows on your packages--especially the blue ones on the white paper?
