Home Tour~The Dining Room

Hi there.  I am back to updating our home tour and today I'm sharing my dining room.

The dining room pulls double duty as my home office.  My favorite dresser provides office supply storage and also serves as a buffet while entertaining.

This piece was a $12 thrift store find.  I gave it my Potterybarn Black Paint Finish technique and sprayed the original hardware black.  I saved so much on the dresser that I splurged on the large quatrefoil mirror from RugsUSA.

My dining room table was a discount home store find a few years ago. We had a piece of plexiglass cut for the top to protect it from match box car races.  I also use it everyday as a hardworking desk and project surface.

A few years ago for my birthday my husband made me a set of four crown molding ledges to display my hoard collection of dishes.

He also added the picture frame molding which gave the builder basic space a lot of character.  This room has been painted many different colors, right now it is "Crevecour" by Martha Stewart.  It's a really deep green based gray.

The neutral color scheme is a nice backdrop for party and holiday decor.  I can use pretty much any accent color with Crevecouer.

I also appreciate the neutral palette while working in here, it allows me to design for others without being distracted by my surroundings.

The drapery is solid white cotton twill panels from Restoration Hardware layered over roman shades.

Thank you for visiting my dining room/home office.

  1. I have often thought of using my DR as my office! Except that I can tend to be "messy Marvin" in my work space. Probably because my work space is so small!!! Love your double duty dining room:)

  6. I love the picture frame moulding! You don't happen to have a tutorial?! ;) Our dining room is currently a light gray on top and white on the bottom with the intent of adding wainscoting someday. I love the crevecour color much better though. We may have to paint for the third time in three months!

    1. Thanks, Dawn. Unfortunately I dont have a tutorial. My hubby did that project before the blog. I may just need him to do another room for the sake of a post…I'll start working on him now. Best, Sarah

  7. Rugs USA doesn't have mirrors listed on their site. Is this something that you bought recently?

    1. Hey Aubrey, thanks. The molding was installed by my talented, handsome, witty, smart and loving hubby (see the above comment by Dawn and my response to see why I am gushing over him. Hopefully it works and I will be sharing a tutorial soon).
