Warm and Sunny Kitchen/Family Room

Today is a wonderful day at The Yellow Cape Cod.  Kids are back to school and the weather has cooled off a bit, both of which set the perfect scene for fall decor projects.  I was asked to join an exciting round up of bloggers for a fall home tour this month.  Stayed tuned after the official tour, I'll  be sharing a series of simple fall project tutorials.

In the meantime…today's featured design boards are from a recent online design plan we created for Vanessa's Kitchen and Family Room.  This light and sunny palette will keep her home feeling warm  throughout the year.

Some of the suggestions we made for her kitchen included a new table, open shelving, a warm natural fiber area rug, a gorgeous character rich chandelier and a painted cabinet makeover.  Along with a custom molding suggestion, we gave her two color recommendations to update her kitchen cabinetry, warm white and gray.

In the adjacent family room, we incorporated the same color palette of gray, yellow and white.  We brought in a large media center flanked with bookcases to anchor a long wall.  This media center is a wonderful piece from Ikea.  It mimics the look of a custom built-in unit for a fraction of the cost.  Styled with gorgeous accessories and natural textured storage baskets, you would never know it was a budget friendly piece.

Here is a look at the two spaces side-by-side...

As with all of my online design projects, Vanessa also received a true to scale floorplan for each room, a where-to-buy product source list and step by step instructions on how to implement her new design.

If you're like me, having the kids in school and cooler temps has you in full fall nesting mode.  This is a great time to get started on a room makeover, click here for information on my affordable online design service.  I'm now taking new clients.
