A few years ago, I had the opportunity to design a living room for a young family getting settled in their new home. The room turned out fantastic, they did a wonderful job implementing my design plan. They were so happy with the process and the design, that recently they came back to me and asked me to design two more spaces for them, their master bedroom and bathroom.
We just completed their design plan and are so excited to see it come to life.
(A complete source list with links to all products used is at the bottom of this post).
Let's take a look at the new master bedroom and bathroom...
The color palette is a beautiful combination of gray, ivory, orange and turquoise. Fun, bright accent colors are tempered by rich, dark furniture and a warm gray paint color. Each design element is sophisticated which keeps this palette feeling young, but high style and grown up at the same time.
Here is a peek at the furniture arrangement we suggested for the bedroom...
Here is the custom paint colors we chose...
We mixed an upholstered headboard with rich, dark wood furniture set...
Art and accessories were kept large in scale, like these amazing antiqued mirrors (available here).
A drop dead gorgeous area rug placed under the bed grounds the space and turns the bed into an eye-catching focal point…(rug available here)
The bedding we selected is a custom mix that includes a solid gray duvet color and beautiful patterned pillows from Etsy…
These large scale, glossy white lamps will look amazing on the dark wood nightstands flanking the bed…(lamps available here).
Large Glossy White Lamps with Double Shades
A collage of medallions was suggested to give the space personality (medallions available here).

We kept the drapery simple and light. These panels from West Elm have a subtle pattern that gives them just enough interest, yet allows the other patterns in the space to be the center of attention.
Before we wrap up the master bedroom design, let's not forget about the masters best friend…for Harry the dog we selected this fabulous dog bed from Ballard Designs.
In the Bathroom…
We carried the same paint colors into the master bathroom.
These colors compliment the tile we chose for the floor as well as the shower surround...
We gave the family two choices for a rug. One is bright and colorful, and the other coordinates with the rug we chose for the bedroom. (Rug available here).
We recommended a rich, dark wood vanity with these gorgeous counter tops and upgraded hardware and faucets. We also selected lighting that compliments these finishes.
To keep the space feeling clean and calm, accessories we kept simple. A gray and ivory shower curtain and white floral arrangement allow the new orange towels to be the color pop of the space.
Here is another look at the design boards for both spaces together.
There was much more to this design plan. In addition to the items shown in this post, we provided recommendations for additional furniture, art and accessories. We also included step by step instructions on how to implement these new designs.
Thanks for stopping by. I am now accepting new clients if you have a room that needs a new look!
