Today's featured online design plan is a "His and Her' Home Office we just designed for a couple moving into a new home with a big empty office space. My clients came to me and asked me to design an elegant home office for both of them to use daily.
After completing our consultation via my interactive questionnaire, here is what we came up with…

Some of the requests included a desk that accommodates a desk-top computer, but still allows the person sitting at the desk to face into the room as opposed to looking at the wall. They also asked for bookcases, attractive file cabinets, an easily accessible printer and the incorporation of a flat screen television. I was able to achieve all of these wishes with this gorgeous office furniture from Ballard Designs...
The Tuscan Collection has several mix and match pieces to create an office that combines form and function. For this project, I used the Tuscan Return Office Group that includes two hutches with glass doors and recessed lighting, double file cabinets and a double sided desk. It fits into my clients space perfectly. The hutches give them a space for their printer on one side and a spot for a small flat screen TV on the other.

For the wall color, we suggested this gorgeous gray by BM for the top of the wall. On the bottom, we recommended a custom molding treatment painted in a warm white.
This dark and dramatic paint color combination is the perfect backdrop to the white linen upholstered chairs we selected for the seating area. To warm up the cool gray and white color palette, we recommended a dark brown finish for the Tuscan Office furniture.
During our consultation, my client mentioned that she loved the Porcelain Blue Scroll Tile Rug from Potterybarn. I was able to incorporate this beautiful rug into the seating area under the chairs.
For the desk area, I paired two different chair styles. A beautiful upholstered linen desk chair on one side and a comfortable, handsome leather chair on the other side. Using two different chairs keeps the space from looking to "matchy" and more curated. It also lends a nod to the "His and Her" theme.
To keep this space from feeling like it's all work and no play, I added a jaw dropping mirror, a pretty set of lamps and a beautiful console table that is close to the seating area.
For a dramatic centerpiece, we selected a stunning chandelier to hang in the center of the space, over the seating area…
To accessorize the desk area, we recommended a few attractive storage baskets, a slim task light and a large framed cork board...
These are just some of the items we included in this design plan. As with all our projects, we gave our client a shopping list that included everything they need to create a beautiful, finished, custom space in their home.
